Spatial Awareness / Visualization
Controlling aircraft requires constant mental rotation. This practice trains your ability to judge aircraft position from another perspective. You will decide whether a LEFT or RIGHT prompt correctly describes the smaller aircraft's position relative to the large aircraft or observer. The actual ATSA generally includes 2 parts of 30 questions each, for 60 total questions.
Instructions
Part 1
Determine the position of the small plane relative to the perspective of the large plane. A prompt saying LEFT or RIGHT will appear. Press T if the prompt is true, or F if the prompt is false.
Part 2
An eye icon may appear looking at the large plane. If the eye icon is present, answer from the eye's perspective. If no eye icon appears, answer from the large plane's perspective.
Practice note
Use T for true and F for false. Desktop keyboard practice is recommended. Keep a steady pace, since the real section is a sequence of short perspective judgments rather than a long problem to solve.
